A Maasai-inspired safari camp in the heart of the Maasai Mara
Sausage Tree sits along the Sekenani–Keekorok C12 Road in the Maasai Mara, one of the world's most iconic wildlife destinations. Operated by Iarat Mara Limited, the camp was created to offer travellers a comfortable, warm, and meaningful base from which to explore the Mara.
We believe travel should be more than wildlife viewing. Our experiences are designed to connect guests with Maasai culture, wildlife conservation, local communities, and the natural rhythms of the land. Whether you are here for the great migration, a quiet sunset, or a conversation with a Maasai guide, we want your stay to feel both relaxed and enriching.
Set on a hillside about a 5-minute drive from the Maasai Mara National Reserve entrance, the camp offers four ways to stay — Manyatta Round House, Savanna Cottage, Enkaji Villa and Tented Stay — with a shared pool and open views over the grassland, where zebras often graze. Every stay is full board, with breakfast, lunch and dinner included. Game drives, cultural visits and nature activities can be arranged on request, tailored to your interests and pace.
The Maasai people have stewarded these lands for generations. Our camp draws inspiration from their traditions, their knowledge of the landscape, and their relationship with wildlife. We work with Maasai guides and community members to create experiences that are authentic, respectful, and mutually beneficial.
When you visit Sausage Tree, you are not just observing culture from a distance. You are invited to listen, learn, and participate — whether through a guided walk, a village visit, or a conversation around the campfire.

Maasai culture is not a performance — it is a living tradition. We create space for genuine cultural exchange that respects and honours the community.
We are part of the local community. We source locally, hire locally, and contribute to initiatives that benefit the people who call the Mara home.
From reducing waste to supporting conservation, we are committed to operating in ways that protect the Mara for future generations.
We believe that tourism, when done thoughtfully, can be a force for good. By prior arrangement, guests can spend time with rangers, visit a ranger station, or join community and school visits and craft exchanges — ways to learn about wildlife conservation and the people who call the Mara home.
