Booking & Reservations
How do I book a stay at Sausage Tree?
Send a booking inquiry through our website, or contact us directly on WhatsApp at +254 790 492 666 or by email at enjoyuan2021@gmail.com. Our team will confirm availability and your final rate. Sending an inquiry does not reserve a room or take any payment.
What are the payment and cancellation terms?
Payment and cancellation terms will be confirmed when booking. All rates depend on season and availability, and require final confirmation. See our rates page for the full rate sheet.
Do rates include park fees?
No. Park fees are not included in our accommodation rates, and neither are transport, safari activities, guide services, insurance, drinks or personal expenses. Let us know your plans and our team will advise on park fees when you book.
Can I book safari activities in advance?
Yes, and we recommend it. Game drives, the Nashulai night game drive, the Secret Hide and activities such as community visits require advance booking and depend on availability. They are not included in the room rate — please ask about arrangements and prices in your inquiry.
Accommodation & Facilities
What types of rooms are available?
There are four ways to stay: Manyatta Round House, Savanna Cottage, Enkaji Villa and Tented Stay. The main room types have a private bathroom, hot water, Wi-Fi, an electric kettle and a hairdryer; the Tented Stay offers canvas safari tents with proper beds and basic amenities. Rooms can be set up as double (one 1.8 m bed), twin (two 1.2 m beds) or family (one 1.5 m bed + one 1.0 m bed), sleep 2 guests as standard and up to 3. Bed configuration and final room allocation depend on availability.
Is the accommodation full-board?
Yes. All our rates include accommodation with breakfast, lunch and dinner. Local buffet meals are served daily, and Chinese meals can be requested in advance. Drinks are not included.
Is there Wi-Fi and electricity?
Yes. There is internet access at the hotel, and the main room types have Wi-Fi and power outlets for charging. If you are staying in a tent or have specific power needs, our team will confirm the details when you book.
What is the Tented Stay like?
The Tented Stay has 8 canvas tents across different areas of the camp — Nina, Tembo, Pool, Green Tent and Mountain View — each with proper beds and basic amenities. Zebras often graze around the hotel; they are wild animals, so please follow our team's guidance. Any questions about the tents can be answered when you book.
Safari & Activities
What safari experiences can I arrange?
Game drives in the Maasai Mara National Reserve (the entrance is about 5 minutes' drive away), a night game drive in Nashulai private conservancy, and evenings at the Secret Hide overlooking a waterhole. By prior arrangement we can also help with community and school visits, ranger and conservation activities, sunset yoga and creative workshops. Arrangements and prices are confirmed on request; wildlife sightings cannot be guaranteed.
Do I need to bring my own safari gear?
Game drive arrangements, including vehicle and guide, are confirmed and quoted when you book. We recommend bringing neutral-colored clothing, a hat, sunscreen, binoculars, and a camera. A warm layer for early morning drives is advised.
Are cultural experiences respectful and authentic?
That is our aim. Community and school visits or craft exchanges can be arranged for families, educational trips and groups by prior arrangement. Let us know your interests and our team will confirm what is possible for your dates.
Can children participate in activities?
Yes, children are welcome. Children aged 3 and under stay free; ages 4–11 are charged 50% of the adult rate; 12 and above pay the full adult rate. Activities depend on availability and group plans — tell us your children's ages and our team will confirm suitable options when you book.
Getting There & Travel
How do I get to Sausage Tree?
We're located on Sekenani–Keekorok C12 Road in the Maasai Mara, about a 5-minute drive from the entrance to Maasai Mara National Reserve. Guests usually arrive by road from Nairobi or fly to one of the Mara airstrips. Share your transport needs in your inquiry and our team will advise.
Do you arrange airport transfers?
Let us know your transfer or transport needs in your inquiry and our team will advise on options and prices. Transport is not included in accommodation rates.
What is the best time to visit?
The Mara is rewarding year-round. The Great Migration usually passes through between July and October, depending on animal movements. Our rates follow three seasons: Low (1 Apr–31 May excluding Easter, and November), High (3 Jan–31 Mar, 1–14 Jun, 16 Sep–31 Oct, 1–19 Dec and Easter) and Peak (15 Jun–15 Sep and 20 Dec–2 Jan). See the season calendar.
Do I need vaccinations or a visa?
A valid visa is required for most international visitors to Kenya. We recommend consulting your travel health provider regarding recommended vaccinations and malaria prophylaxis. Please check current requirements before traveling.
